Audio

My background in sound covers music production, sound design, mixing, and narrative audio. I work in Ableton Live and Pro Tools, producing everything from original music to full soundscapes.

That includes branded audio for Apple Music, narrative podcast work, and sound design for films like Tether. I like building projects where sound drives the atmosphere and connects everything.

COTN COMEBACK! — Audio Anthology: World 1

COTN COMEBACK! is the first world from Audio Anthology, my concept-driven audio magazine blending music, story, and worldbuilding. In this world, Children of the Night is reimagined as a legendary band returning for one last show before the great crash out of 1983.

I produced the music, handled the art direction, designed the logo, and wrote the full backstory behind the reimagining. The artwork features a photo taken during the 1983 burning of the Octagon building on Roosevelt Island, where I’m originally from and where my parents met. The image, shot by a friend of my stepfather, felt like the perfect nod to the chaos and mythology I wanted to evoke — calling back to the Led Zeppelin debut cover and the visuals that inspired this project.

The promo featured in the Video section was designed to mirror 70s film previews and archival footage, pulling references from Serpico, A Panic in Needle Park, The Song Remains the Same, and old concert documentaries. My longtime music contemporary Jon Phonics lent his voice as the aging record executive you hear in the story.

Tether (Excerpt) — Dialogue Cleanup & Sound FX (as Maxxwell Roth)

Tether is a 15-minute sci-fi short directed by Meredith Berg, starring Geffri Maya (All American: Homecoming) and Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian, Mulan). I worked under lead sound designer Paul Hackner, handling all dialogue cleanup and sound effects for the final festival mix.

I’m credited as Maxxwell Roth — my sound design alias and a character from the world of Audio Anthology.

This excerpt highlights sections where my contributions are most present. Full film available upon request or via festival screening.

Role: Dialogue Editor, Sound FX Designer (Assistant Sound Design)

Flock Together — Earth Day Project (New York)

Flock Together — Earth Day Project (New York)

Flock Together is a global birdwatching collective that brings people together through nature, creative mentorship, and mental health support. Their work includes chapters in London, Tokyo, Toronto, and New York.

For their Earth Day project with Apple Music, I produced four of the five songs for the New York chapter, handling both production and tracking for the artists involved. The project blends ambient textures, nature sounds, and New York’s energy into a series of original pieces.

The song featured here is my personal favorite — an instrumental called "Rodi."

Role: Music Producer, Tracking Engineer

Catch Me Up 2 Speed — Original Music & Sound Design

Catch Me Up 2 Speed is a narrative podcast hosted by acclaimed journalist Ralph Gaston. Across its first season, I handled original composition, sound design, and episode mixing to help shape the overall sound of the show.

I produced custom music packs for each episode, building transitions, mood cues, and scene scoring to match the editorial tone. The work was informed by studying top formats like The Daily and Louder Than a Riot, with the goal of creating a sound that felt sharp, immersive, and worth sticking with.

The playlist featured here is a selection from Season One, showcasing some of the music I created for the show. Catch Me Up 2 Speed is available on all major streaming platforms.

Role: Composer, Sound Designer, Music Producer, Mixing Engineer

Cityslickers Podcast — Creator and Showrunner

In 2016 I launched Cityslickers, a New York lifestyle podcast at a time when artist-led podcasts were still rare. The show featured conversations with artists, musicians, and cultural voices shaping the city.

I handled every part of the process. Booking guests, writing interview questions, tracking and editing each episode, and curating sound with producers and DJs from my network. The goal was to capture real conversations that documented the creative energy of New York in an honest and timeless way.

The show built on my background in music and storytelling and taught me how to develop narrative audio from the ground up with limited resources. In the Writing section you can find “10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Podcast,” where I reflect on that experience.

If given the right resources I would relaunch and evolve the platform.
